While the Cuveliers improved the estate’s vineyards and modernised its facilities, they retained the chateau’s existing winemakers and added consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt to create a formidable team. Château Poujeaux comprises 68 hectares of mature vineyards in the northeast of the Moulis-en-Médoc commune. The majority of vines are on a slope of famous Günz gravel, a mix of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The Cuveliers farm organically, harvesting their grapes late in the season to enhance the fruit’s richness.
