The vineyards of Lynch-Bages lie across two plots: the majority to the west of Pauillac and the rest to the north on the Monferan plateau. The 9 hectare of vines comprises 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, between 3 and 9 years old. The wine is made by Nicolas Labenne and Jérôme Le Roux under the direction of Jean-Charles Cazes. Fermentation temperature is strictly controlled, with extensive pumping over to ensure good concentration. The wine is typically aged for 15 months in oak barriques, of which around 60% are new each year.
