Over the following decades, Martin and Jean-Charles Cazes acquired more vines from other classed growth properties, expanding Château Gloria’s vineyard to 5 hectares. nGloria’s vineyards are planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, spread over three separate parcels. One nine hectare parcel actually lies in neighbouring Pauillac, but the grapes are allowed in Château Gloria’s wines through a special dispensation. nThe soils throughout the vineyards are typical of the region: Gunzian gravel over sand and clay. Aged in a mixture of large oak foudres and traditional barriques for 14 months, Château Gloria 2014 is impressively fresh and refined, offering dried flower and smoky oak nuances beneath its brambly fruit.
