Eminent Danish designer Hans Wegner once philosophised that, A chair should have no rear view. It should be beautiful from all sides and angles. It is this ideology that is apparent in every inch of his 1975 'Butterfly' easy chair. Far from relying on looks alone though, the proof of Butterfly's quality is in the sitting. Through a process of simplification and purification, the resultant curves and acute angles put all focus on the user to offer extremely comfortable use, even over long periods of use. Considered one of the leading designers of the 20th centuries, Hans J. Wegner's designs were the first to be exported from Denmark in the 1950s, and established the Danish Modern movement. The manufacturer of this piece, Getama, has been producing furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner for nearly 65 years. Getama still produce the same designs to this day, guaranteeing furniture crafted in compliance with Wegner's original drawings and quality.
