Marrying co-designer Don Chadwick's vision with Herman Miller's latest research around the science of sitting, the iconic Aeron office chair has been remastered to meet the needs of today's work, workers, and work environments. Innovative cross-performance design means the chair fully accommodates the widest possible range of activities and postures people adopt while working - from intense forward-facing focus to relaxed contemplative recline. When Aeron debuted in 1994, Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick's design was health-positive, cross-performing, inclusively sized, and environmentally sensitive. It demonstrated a pioneering step in ergonomics and material innovation, quickly gaining a place in popular culture. But a lot has changed since then, so it made sense that Aeron should change too. With stronger, smarter materials, better adjustment capabilities, new finish options, and a healthier, more comfortable sit, Herman Miller didn't recreate or redesign the Aeron Chair - they remastered it. New materials Aeron's innovative 8Z Pellicle suspension material allows air, body heat and water vapour to pass through the seat and back, aiding temperature regulation. Across the seat and back, eight latitudinal zones of varying tension deliver increased comfort and ergonomic support. PostureFit SL works with the frame and the 8Z Pellicle to support the sacrum and lumbar region of the spine to keep you strong while you sit. Updated design While Aeron's iconic form has remained visually unchanged, the chair has been remastered from the castors up. The updated design includes a forward shift in the frame for a more natural seated posture, a streamlined tilt mechanism for smoother movement, new intuitive controls for easier adjustment, and an updated pneumatic cylinder to support the new chair. New colours Guided by Stumpf's notions of ‘visual comfort' and Chadwick's keen eye for aesthetic detail, Aeron was originally designed to harmonise with the environment in which it was placed. Recognising that most environments look and feel vastly different today, the new Aeron's colours, materials, and finishes have been completely reconsidered to enhance modern environments. As the lightest colour, Mineral is ideal for today's more open office environments. Here it is combined with a darker Mineral tone frame and base, as well as dark Mineral coloured vinyl arm pads. Dye transfer from materials or fabrics to seating surfaces may occur, and is more noticeable on lighter coloured specifications. If concerned, please consider a darker specification. Dye transfer is not covered under the Herman Miller warranty.
