Designed by Konstantin Grcic, the Vitra Allstar defies the typical office stereotype. Allstar expresses a sense of familiarity and casualness which make it suited for a wide variety of settings, both professional and domestic. Allstar contains the necessary functional features of an office chair: a synchronised mechanism with lockable positioning, seat depth and height adjustment, and an adjustable backrest. A robust plastic loop frame acts as armrests and backrest support, enabling the separate movement of the seat and backrest. The curved shape of the cushions of the seat and back ensure a high level of comfort. Thanks to its form and technical function, Allstar is suited to a wide variety of settings - an ideal choice for the modern workplace, co-working spaces as well as home offices. Konstantin Grcic trained as a cabinetmaker at Parnham College in Dorset before studying industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1991 he set up his own Munich-based practice, Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID). The Vitra Design Museum devoted a monographic exhibition to Grcic and his work in 2014.
