This helps to protect the product from excessive heat and cracks and increases its lifespan, meaning that it can be used to heat your outdoor space for years to come. Before use, place a minimum layer of 5cm of normal (building) sand into the base. To cure your chimenea, you need to start a small fire on top of the sand using a small amount of kindling, rolled newspaper and one log. Allow the log to burn out and the chimenea to cool.
