Before studying art Aimee spent her life heavily involved in dance and theatre, a passion which is reflected strongly in her work. Most of her watercolour paintings are figurative, inspired by dance and theatre life. The coarseness and strength of emotion in theatre and the beauty and inhibition of dance are apparent in her work. Aimee's paintings are free and gestural, she does not linger on the detail but works with bold colours and heavy brush strokes to capture the moment. She often uses simple household objects to create the shapes she desires whilst keeping a freedom to the painting and some guess work for the viewer.
