June Branscombe has produced many designs to commemorate Royal events over the years and they are always full of relevant symbolism and meaning. The inspiration for the whole pattern comes from patterns developed in the 1970's for the Queen Mother after she had 'pressed' a gadroon plate on a visit to our Factory here in Derby. June designed a light scatter pattern for the shape which was given to the Queen Mother. Her design for the Royal Baby includes downy feathers of a young cygnet, a rose in bud and a blue Adonis butterfly, all signifying new life. The Butterfly is shown in flight and at rest with its wings tucked up showing the difference in colour of the underside of the wings. The centrepiece of the plate is Prince William's coronet sitting on top of an arrangement of rose buds tied with ribbon which will be blue as we have been blessed with a Prince. The central inscription is surrounded by a circle of shells taken from Princess Diana's, Spencer coat of armsHandwash recommendedNot microwave safeNot oven safe Shop At House Of Fraser
