The palate is full and silky smooth, with deep coffee and chocolate notes under the sweet berry fruit core, finishing on a complex spicy edge., About this bottle:Darling is a small farming town in South Africa’s rural Western Cape region, about 75km from Cape Town. Vines grow close to the coast in this unspoilt area, with vineyards enjoying cool Atlantic breezes, which help slow down the ripening process and produce classically elegant wines. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine were both grown in unirrigated trellised vineyards overlooking the sea in the region’s granite-rich red oakleaf soil. Winemaker Charl du Plessis had the grapes harvested early in the morning to ensure all their fresh berry notes were retained.
